Jonas continues in Cliff Avenue United Under 7 Soccer once again with former teammates Adriano, Kairuv, and new buddies comprising the rest of the team "Cheetahs" - some beginner and some highly skilled. He is is still one of the best players on his team and is improving in all sports. Nadia has wrapped up her first season of U5 soccer with legendary World Cup Coach Tony Waiters. Jonas and Nadia are becoming little mathematicians too - they'll test each other with simple addition/subtraction problems. It started with Jonas teaching Nadia using the flash cards he first learned from. Nadia knows her single digit math and Jonas is improving at double and even triple digit equations - quite impressive for a kid his age. Jonas continues in Swim Kids 2 - unassisted swimming, Nadia is in Sea Otter where she has learned to do back floats unassisted - big steps, or should I say "strokes". Oh yeah, Dad turned 42 this month!...but who's counting? The sushi and cu

There are many times when I want to remember things I see and hear, especially from the kids, so I can write them down on this blog, and never ever forget. I can't remember everything by the time I sit down to start writing, but one thing I can remember happened tonight when Jonas started reading a book to me at the dinner table. A small part of me is sad that Jonas is no longer completely dependent on us but most of me is proud that he has grown up so strong and is learning so well. He writes his school Journal almost everyday and even wrote his first 'book' - Robert Munsch style about a 'monster' entering a Mom's house and "the Mom went, like, 'aaaahhhh'!" I don't know how he created such a story but I promise to feature it on a future post. Nadia has become quite the vibrant little girl with very much her

A man once made a statement that explains pretty much how I feel today: "I was given such a great gift. It's a miracle that never stops amazing me and reminding me to give thanks, every day. Having a wife, son and daughter gives me a lot more purpose. I was much more selfish before, but now I think about what kind of role model I'll be. I just want to be a better man."  Some of the things I am thankful for:  God and Jesus,  my beautiful wife, the young and old people in my life, my son who can read and write journals at school: "my favorite color is green and I like to play crashing cars", the embrace of my daughter, reliable transportation, parents and in-laws, teachers and bosses, friends, Steve, second chances, forgiveness.
