To post or not to post

It's almost humorous that our life seems to be chaotic and I haven't posted forever and so I either write something in a diary that I do not have, or write on our blog for friends and family to see a peek into our current life!  Our life always seems busy but the last 30 days have been chaotic.  We came home to  a broken hot water tank and flooded basement, add 3 weeks of renovations and having to be close to  home to allow multiple people in for repairs ( on one day we had 24 different people in the house for  repairs), then throw in a teachers strike and trying to juggle childcare for Jonas, a job that I love but  sucks up all my head space, an unexpected death of a friend and then a broken washing machine with no hope of a new machine for at least 3 weeks! The kids think it's hilarious that the clothes are "having a bath in the tub"! and have helped with some hand washing just to keep up with some of the necessities!   So many of these items are" f

Kings Peak

June 6-8 was the second annual "Take-a-hike" hill climb, this time up Kings Peak, Elevation 2,065m (6,775ft) Strathcona Park, Vancouver Island. The island's eighth highest peak located in the Elk River Range provided some varied and difficult terrain. Approaching the main glacier required crossing the stream/river several times, lots of tree roots with some steep sections, waterfalls, logs, getting lost in the bush but safely backtracking to find our way again. We made a nice camp ground in a wooded area where we rested Friday night before gearing up Saturday morn with crampons and ice axes for the ascension to the summit. Firm snow and sun made for an easy trek up the main col where we split up into two groups. One group, with harnesses, headed towards the face or north ridge, to climb the main mountain almost vertically. The second group headed towards what is called Queen's Peak - the easier/safer hikers route. It was here I was able to catch a glimpse of the might

Here's the kids helping Dad stacking firewood in Grandpa's cellar - fun. This Spring Jonas lost his second tooth. It was loose for a while then Jonas accidentally swallowed it during lunch at Grandma's. An apology letter, written by Jonas to the Tooth Ferry, was enough to earn a shiny toony. Nadia had her second hair cut, moved from a tricycle to bicycle. Jonas got a haircut from Mama, has a new 16" bike and already has it mastered. Daddy and Nadia are enjoying the sunnier weather on their ride to preschool and work! Spring included visits to Jonas' and Nadia's schools for Parent-Teacher conference/observation - both are doing quite well and learning quickly. Jonas read "A big guy took my ball" all by himself and writes little notes and letters all the time. We were amazed when Nadia wrote her name for the first time about a week ago. May finished with another trip to Kelowna where we met Zeezee and Grandpa. Bedtime mow normally includes a card game
